Urban Wild_Life

This practice as research project explores encounters with urban nature in the city through audio-visual mixing practices and live performance.

The practice involves creating mixes of images, texts, sounds, guitar and vocal loops to evoke encounters with nonhuman wild lives in urban spaces and the aim is to open up the feelings of both delight and dread which arise from these encounters with nature in the human-made spaces of the city.

The live audio-visual performance

The first creative output of the research is a live audio-visual performance, which took place at Outlaws Yacht Club in Leeds on 16th October 2022. The programme for the piece and video documentation are below:

The online audio-visual mix

The second creative output is a single channel video, combining the sounds and visuals from the performance (see below).

Practice Research Output and Complementary Writing

The project was published as a practice research output on the Research Catalogue in October 2023, including the aims, contexts, methods and findings of the research.
